Primary use: Prophylaxis of graft rejection in patients undergoing solid-organ transplants (such as kidney, liver, or heart).
Tacrolimus inhibits calcineurin, blocking T-cell activation and production of inflammatory cytokines—thereby suppressing immune responses that could harm the transplanted organ .

💊 Dosage & Administration
Available strengths: 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 5 mg oral capsules
Typical adult dosing: Initiated on 0.1–0.2 mg/kg/day, divided into 2 doses (every 12 hours); precise dosing is weight-based and requires regular blood level monitoring
Taken on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals) to ensure consistent absorption
Allergy to tacrolimus or any formulation ingredients.
Infection risk: Because it suppresses immunity, there is a higher susceptibility to bacterial, viral, fungal, and other opportunistic infections
Malignancy risk: May increase risk of lymphoma or skin cancers—regular skin exams and UV protection advised.
